In honor of Mother’s Day this past weekend, I want to share one of my very favorite things I’ve seen in Denmark. This statue is on the grounds of St. Peter’s Church in Copenhagen, just a down the street from Vor Frue Kirke. The statue stands to the side of the churchyard, near the burial grounds. I just love it because the message displayed is so indicative of the lives of our ancestors. Notice the little baby hidden in the arms of Death. It also references the Hans Christian Andersen story “The Story of a Mother.”

Happy Halloween from Tivoli
A few years ago my husband and I were in Denmark the week before Halloween. Tivoli is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, and it’s right in the middle of downtown Copenhagen. Read more…
